Euripides changed how people tell stories. Most writers back then wrote about mythic heroes. Euripides made his heroes feel like ordinary people. He showed their inner lives and feelings. This was a new way to write drama. His work helped later writers like Shakespeare. He also showed deep sympathy for women in his plays. One famous example is his play, Medea.

Some stories say he was a quiet man. People thought he lived in a cave on Salamis Island. There, he could study the sea and the sky. He was born on the day of a big battle.

His plays were performed in big contests. The actors sang and danced on a circular floor. They used machines to lift actors into the air. Even after he died, his plays won first prize. His stories were so powerful they even helped bring peace to cities.
