Many people call him the "prince of Comedy." He wrote between thirty-five and fifty-two funny plays. Some of his plays were about myths. He even wrote about the hero Odysseus. He made the hero seem silly for laughs.

Epicharmus was also a thinker. He followed the ideas of Pythagoras. He taught that anyone could be a good person. He believed that being good is a choice. This was true no matter who your family was.

He lived in a place called Syracuse. The people there loved his work. They even made a bronze statue for him. One writer said he was like the bright sun. He lived to be a very old man. Some say he was ninety-seven years old. He wrote about many things. He wrote about science and medicine. He also wrote about how to be kind. His ideas were so big that Plato used them. Even a long time later, people still studied his words.
