It sits in the part of Europe called the interior. This plain goes from eastern Poland to the Ural Mountains. It covers many countries. These include Belarus, Ukraine, and the Baltic states. It also covers much of European Russia.

The land is mostly flat. However, there are some hills and plateaus. One area is the Volga Upland. Another is the Central Russian Upland. The highest point is the Bugulma-Belebey Upland. This spot is near the Ural Mountains.

Many big rivers flow through this plain. You can find the Volga River here. The Dnieper River is also very large. Other rivers include the Don and the Oka. These rivers flow through wide basins.

The plain is part of a much bigger area. This is the Great European Plain. It is the largest part of Europe without mountains. To the south, you will find the Caucasus and Crimean mountains. To the north, the land meets the White Sea.
