It begins in the Valdai Hills in Russia. From there, it flows through Belarus and Ukraine. Finally, it reaches the Black Sea. It is the longest river in Ukraine and Belarus. It is also the fourth-longest river in all of Europe.

Many people live near this water. The city of Dnipro takes its name from the river. Many big cities sit along its banks.

The river is a great way to move goods. Most river transport in Ukraine happens on the Dnieper.

In the past, the river had many rapids. Rapids are bumpy parts of a river.

People had to move ships around them. Today, large dams hold back the water. These dams make power for many homes. They also create large reservoirs, which are big pools of water. The river is a very busy and important place for the land around it.
