People use it to draw with ink or pencils. They may also use it to read large books.

Long ago, these tables were made of fine wood and brass. Now, many use steel frames. Steel is strong and easy to move.

Drawing boards have many parts to help the user. A small lip sits on the edge. This lip stops paper from sliding when the board tilts. Many boards have a board cover. This is a thin vinyl sheet. It protects the surface from tools like a compass. You must clean it so your drawings stay neat.

Some tables use a drafting machine. This machine helps people draw straight lines and measure things.

Other tables use electric motors. These motors move the board up or down with a button. A heavy weight keeps the table safe. It stops the board from snapping up if you let go of the pedal. This keeps the person from getting hurt.
