Diane Eve Warren is a highly successful American songwriter. She creates music that is performed by many different famous artists. Her work is significant because she has written nine number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100. She has also written 33 top-ten hits for that same chart. Her songs have appeared in the soundtracks of over sixty films.

Warren's songwriting process is often a solitary and intense activity. She prefers to work alone rather than co-writing with others. She says that writing with people requires compromise, which she finds difficult. She often works for 12 to 16 hours every day. In her Hollywood Hills office, she uses a tape recorder to capture melodies. She plays these recordings back to select the best songs. She describes this office as her "secret world."

Her musical journey began during her childhood in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. She started writing music when she was 11 years old. By age 14, she felt that music "saved" her. Her father, David, was a major supporter of her talent. He bought her a 12-string guitar and a metal shed for practice. He also took her to various music auditions. As a tribute to his encouragement, she wrote the song "Because You Loved Me" for Celine Dion.

Warren's career reached major milestones in the 1980s and 1990s. She first gained recognition with the 1985 single "Rhythm of the Night" by DeBarge. In the late 1980s, she joined the record label EMI. She became the first songwriter in Billboard history to have seven hit songs on the charts at once. Each of those seven songs was recorded by a different artist. This achievement led Peter Reichardt of EMI to call her the most important songwriter in the world.

Her list of accolades is extensive and covers many prestigious awards. She has won a Grammy Award and an Emmy Award. She also holds two Golden Globe Awards. Warren has received 17 nominations for Academy Awards, which is the most for any individual without a win. In November 2022, she received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards. She has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Beyond her musical achievements, Warren is involved in philanthropy and animal advocacy. She founded the Realsongs publishing company to hold the masters of her work. She also helped create the "Music in the Schools" initiative. This program provides sheet music and instruments to schools. Additionally, Warren is a dedicated advocate for animal welfare. She lives on a ranch in Malibu with many rescued animals, such as goats, pigs, and horses.

Warren's influence extends to different cultures and modern media. In the United Kingdom, she is rated as the third most successful female artist. She won the Ivor Novello Award and a Special International Award in 2008. Her work also connects to new technology and modern releases. In 2023, her song "Say Don't Go," written with Taylor Swift, reached the top ten on the US Hot 100. Her life and career are also being explored through a documentary film titled "Diane Warren: Relentless."
