This arch is a very well-known landmark. You can see it on Utah license plates. It is even on a postage stamp.

The arch is made of Entrada Sandstone. Over a long time, wind and rain wore the rock away. This process left the arch shape behind. In the summer, small birds called white-throated swifts nest on top.

Many people visit the arch. You can walk a trail to see it. The trail is 3 miles long for a round trip. The path goes up over open rock. The last part of the trail has a narrow ledge.

Some people like to climb the rock. Now, the park rules say you cannot climb named arches. This helps keep the arches safe. In the past, people thought about using plastic to protect the stone. They decided not to do it. They want the park to stay natural.
