David Belle is a famous French actor and stunt coordinator. He is best known as the founder of parkour. Parkour is a physical discipline that focuses on movement. People use it to move through their world with skill. Belle's work helps bring amazing action to movies and games. He also leads the Parkour Committee for the International Federation of Gymnastics.

Learning parkour involves moving from nature to the city. David first learned many techniques in the forests of Normandy. He later moved to Lisses, France, in 1984 at age 11. There, he used those forest moves in an urban setting. He jumped and climbed over buildings and city obstacles. He trained with a group of friends known as the Yamakasi. People who practice this art are often called traceurs.

David comes from a family of skilled rescuers. His father, Raymond Belle, worked in the Military Paris Fire Brigade. His grandfather, Gilbert Kitten, was also a rescuer in that group. David even served in the military for a time. While in the Marines, he set a record for rope climbing. This record was previously held by his father, Raymond. He also spent three months in India studying kung fu.

His talent for movement led to a big career in film. He became famous through videos like Speed Air Man. Luc Besson helped him star in the movie District 13. He also appeared in the sequel, District 13: Ultimatum. Later, he acted in the American remake called Brick Mansions. He has worked on many other films like Colombiana and Prince of Persia. He even helped with the Dying Light video game series.

Today, Belle's influence is seen in many different places. He has worked as a stunt coordinator for many big brands. You might see his work in ads for Nike or Canon. He has also helped with movies like Babylon A.D. and Transporter 2. His skills help actors perform difficult and exciting moves safely. Even though he stays out of the public spotlight, his movement lives on. Many people around the world now practice parkour because of him.
