Dar Robinson was a famous American stuntman and actor. He spent thirteen years working in the movie industry. During his career, he broke 19 world records. He also set 21 "world's firsts." This means he did things that no one had ever done before.

People remember him for his amazing bravery and skill. He made dangerous moves look natural and exciting on screen.

Robinson was a very talented athlete from a young age. He grew up in Los Angeles, California. His father, Jess Weston Robinson, owned a Gymnastic Supply Company. Dar spent many hours helping his father at the shop. He was so good at the trampoline that he was on the cover of Life Magazine at age thirteen.

This early skill helped him become a top performer.

Dar was also a smart inventor. He created a tool called a decelerator to stay safe. This tool used dragline cables instead of airbags to slow a person down. It was very helpful for filming high falls.

It allowed cameras to film from above without seeing the airbag on the ground. He used this invention during his fall in the movie Stick. You can still see his original tool in Moab, Utah.

He performed many huge stunts in famous films. In 1973, he jumped 100 feet from a cliff into a river for the movie Papillon. In 1979, he set a record by falling from a helicopter onto an airbag.

He even jumped 700 feet from the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada. That tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the world. In 1981, he fell 220 feet from a hotel for the film Sharky's Machine. This is still the highest building fall in a movie.

Dar was very careful and never broke a bone in his career. Sadly, he died in 1986 while filming a movie called Million Dollar Mystery. He was riding a motorcycle near Glen Canyon when he went off a cliff.

Many people in Hollywood wanted to honor him. The films Lethal Weapon and Cyclone were both dedicated to his memory. A documentary called The Ultimate Stuntman was also made in 1988 to celebrate his life.
