Most centers have many different parts. They often have an auditorium. An auditorium is a large room for shows or talks. They may also have concert halls and meeting rooms. Some centers are inside hotels. These are called convention hotels. Other centers sit near hotels. Some centers are even inside museums or theaters.

Long ago, meetings were different. Kings held meetings in castles. They used great halls to meet with lords and knights. A king might even act as a judge in these halls. In 1789, a famous event happened in France. King Louis XVI locked a group out of a meeting hall. This group went to an indoor tennis court instead. This led to the French Revolution.
