You might switch from a bus to a train here. Public hubs include airports, bus stops, and train stations.

Some big hubs use many types of travel. These are called multimodal hubs. This means they use more than one way to move things.

Airports work in two main ways. First, they bring many people to one spot. This helps them fly to new places. Second, some airports act as airline hubs. Airlines use a hub and spoke system. This is a way to connect many flights.

A plane flies from a small town to a big hub. Then, it flies to a new city.

Hubs also move freight, which means goods or cargo. There are three main kinds of freight hubs. Some use water and roads. Some use water and rails. Other hubs use roads and rails. Using many ways to move goods makes shipping more efficient.

This makes it cheaper to move things across the world.
