This movement has a unique way of looking at Jewish law. This law is called Halakha. Followers believe Halakha is binding and important. However, they also believe it can change over time. They use modern historical research to study these changes. This helps them understand how traditions develop through history. They want to keep traditions while also being flexible. This balance is a key part of their identity.

The roots of this movement go back to the 19th century.
