Missionaries do many different things. Some preach about the Christian faith. Others provide aid to people in need. They might give out food or medical care. Some missions follow a "Doctrine of Love." This means they help people without asking them to change their beliefs.

This work has a long history. In the early days, people like Paul traveled to spread the message. Later, monks in monasteries helped with missions. They also built libraries and did research. In the 1500s, groups like the Jesuits went to China and India.
