Perrault is most loved for his magical stories. In 1697, he published a book of tales. These are often called Mother Goose stories. He took old folk tales and made them into a new kind of writing. We call this genre fairy tales. His stories include "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty." He also wrote "Puss in Boots" and "Little Red Riding Hood."

Many people still read his work today. His stories have been turned into movies and plays. He used real places to help build his worlds. For example, he used the Chateau Ussé for "Sleeping Beauty." He even added lessons called morals to his stories. One story warned readers to be careful with strangers. Perrault's work changed how people tell stories forever.
