He was born on August 30, 1819. At that time, his home was part of the Austrian Empire. His family was wealthy and middle-class. His father worked as a lawyer. His mother was the granddaughter of a historian named Giuseppe Cipriani. Favetti went to a school called a classical gymnasium. Later, he went to the University of Vienna to study law.

Favetti was a very active person in his community. He joined many groups that cared about Italian patriotism. In 1850, he started a newspaper named Il Giornale di Gorizia. The Austrian leaders closed the paper in 1851. Later, things changed in the Austrian Empire. In 1861, people chose Favetti to be the mayor of Gorizia. The Austrian government would not let him take the role. Even so, he helped the city in other ways. He watched over many new building projects in Gorizia.

His life had many hard moments due to politics. In 1866, there was a conflict called the Third Italian War of Independence. During this time, the Austrian leaders arrested Favetti. They gave him a six-year sentence in prison. He was released only one year later. In 1868, he left Gorizia to go to Venice. He did this because he was afraid of being arrested again. He finally returned to Gorizia after an amnesty in 1871.

Favetti spent his later years serving his home city. In 1877, the people elected him to the city council. He stayed on the council until he died on November 30, 1892. He was also a writer who loved his local culture. He wrote many poems and plays in the Friulian language. Some of his books have special names. One was Doi quadris della vita popolar gurizzana, written in 1882. Another was a play called Fusilir e granatir in 1891.

We can see how Favetti's life connects to history. He lived during a time when borders were changing. His work helped shape the city of Gorizia. He used both law and writing to express his ideas. His poems show how people spoke in his region. Even his books like Leonardo Papes came out in 1892. His writing was even published in Udine in 1893. He remains a famous figure from the history of Friuli.
