The map shows where the city is located.

Long ago, the name Capua meant "City of Marshes." Many groups lived there in the past. The Etruscans may have started the city. Later, the Romans took control. They built a famous road called the Via Appia to reach it. This road connected Capua to Rome.

In the old days, Capua was a very rich place. People grew grain and made wine there. They were also famous for making objects out of bronze. The city was also known for gladiators. These were fighters who performed in large arenas.

Today, you can see many old things. The Cathedral of Santo Stefano is a large church. It has tall towers and old stone columns. You can also visit the Museo Campano. This is a museum that holds many local treasures.
