They built a city called Cumae. It sat on a high hill near the sea. The land was good for farming. This helped the city grow very rich.

The Greeks also brought a new way of writing. This alphabet helped shape the letters we use today.

As Cumae grew, it became very powerful. A leader named Aristodemus ruled the city for a time. He helped the city win big battles. But later, nobles took control and removed him.

The city also had a famous cave. People called it the Cave of the Sibyl.

Later, the Romans took over the city. They built many big things there. They made large baths and a theater. They even dug long tunnels through the hills.
