He was known as an elite scorer and a great sniper. A sniper is a player who is very good at shooting the puck into the net. Throughout his career, he scored 741 goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). This total is the fifth highest in the history of the league. He is also one of only five players to score 50 goals in just 50 games. People around the world remember him for his amazing skill on the ice.

His path to the top was not always easy. In his youth, he did not always focus on his fitness or his training. He was even passed over by teams during the NHL entry draft in 1982 and 1983. He had to prove his commitment to the game by playing in junior leagues. After scoring 105 goals in one season, the Calgary Flames finally chose him in 1984. He then played college hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. There, he set many school records, including scoring 52 goals in a single season.

Hockey was a big part of his family life from the start. His father, Bobby Hull, was a legendary professional player. His mother, Joanne, was a professional figure skater who taught him how to skate. Because of his father, Brett was even given the nickname "the Golden Brett." He and his father are the first father and son to both score 600 goals in the NHL. In 2009, Brett was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. This joined him with his father in a very special way.

Hull played for many different teams during his long career. He played for the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues. He also played for the Dallas Stars, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Phoenix Coyotes. He won the Stanley Cup twice during his time in the league. The first win was with the Dallas Stars in 1999. The second win was with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002. He even won a silver medal playing for the United States at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

One of his most famous moments happened during the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals. The Dallas Stars were playing against the Buffalo Sabres in a very close game. The game went into a third overtime period to decide the winner. Hull scored a goal by putting the puck past the goalie in the crease. This goal helped the Stars win the championship, even though it was very controversial. It remains one of the most talked-about goals in hockey history. Today, he serves as an executive for the St. Louis Blues.
