The fruit starts as a silvery green color. A thick coat of wax makes it look silver. The fruit has bumps called knuckles. These look like the knuckles on a human hand. When the fruit is ripe, it turns pale yellow. The inside is white and creamy. Many people call it the Ice Cream banana. This is because it tastes like vanilla custard. It feels soft like ice cream. You can eat it fresh or cooked. These trees also make good shade plants.
