Bernard Bolzano was a thinker from Prague. He was a priest and a teacher. He loved math and logic.

Bolzano had strong ideas about peace. He thought war was a waste. This made leaders in his time angry. They removed him from his job. They sent him away to the countryside. Even then, he kept writing. He wrote about math and science.

Bolzano changed how we see math. Many people used ideas like time or motion. Bolzano thought math should be more strict. He wanted it to be very exact. He worked on how numbers approach a limit. A limit is a value a number gets very close to. He also proved rules about algebra. Algebra is a way to use symbols to solve math problems.

He also studied logic. Logic is the study of how we think and reason. He wrote about ideas that exist on their own. He said some ideas do not have a real object. For example, a "round square" is an idea. But a round square cannot exist in real life. His work was very important to later scientists.
