Benjamin Bloom was a man who studied how people learn. He was born in 1913 in Pennsylvania. His parents moved to America from Russia. Bloom went to many colleges. He earned a doctorate from the University of Chicago. He later became a teacher there.

Bloom made a big change in how schools work. He made a system called Bloom's taxonomy. This is a way to group what students learn. It helps teachers see how kids think. This system is still used by teachers today.

He also studied how to help every child succeed. He created Mastery Learning. In this way, teachers teach in small units. These units last one or two weeks. If a child does not understand, they get extra help. If they do well, they get fun extra work. This helps kids learn at their own pace.

Bloom also studied what makes people great. He talked to 70 experts. He spoke to swimmers and piano players. He found that these people liked to work hard. They also liked to compete. He saw that parents and teachers help kids grow by giving them support and new chances to learn.
