Asan is a busy city in South Korea. It sits in the South Chungcheong Province. The city is near the large Seoul Capital Area to the north. About 400,000 people live in this area. Asan is very famous for its many hot springs. People visit these warm waters at spas to relax. The city even grew to include the village of Onyang-dong. This nearby place is also well known for its hot springs.

Getting around Asan is quite easy for travelers. The city shares a station with the city of Cheonan. This station is called Cheonan-Asan Station. It serves the KTX high speed trains. You can reach Seoul in about 30 minutes by train. It takes about two hours to drive from Incheon International Airport. A subway line from Seoul also reaches the city. Two major highways also pass through this region.

Asan has a long history of changing over time. In 1986, a town called Onyang became its own city. Later, in 1995, the City of Onyang and Asan County joined together. This created the modern City of Asan we know today. The land has also changed because of building projects. Large sea walls were built at Asan Bay and Sapgyo Creek. These walls changed how people used the coast for fishing and salt.

Today, Asan is a huge center for making things. It is the largest manufacturing base in Chungnam. Many big companies like Samsung and Hyundai have large plants here. They make things like cars and electronic parts. There are 14 industrial complexes in the city. These areas make parts for cars and electronics. Even smaller companies like Nongshim work in the city too. Farmers still grow rice, corn, and many fruits.

There are many interesting places to see in Asan. You can visit the Blue Crystal Village in Tangjeong-myeon. This village has white walls and blue roofs. It looks like the Greek island of Santorini.
