It is an organization for countries in the Arab world. Its main goal is to bring member states closer together. The League wants to help them work together on many things. It works to protect the independence of every member. It also looks after the shared interests of all Arab countries. This group helps many different nations find common ground.

There are many ways the League helps its members. It uses special groups to run different programs. One group is called ALECSO, which helps with education and science. Another group helps with money and social matters. These groups make it easier to share ideas and tools. The League also acts as a place for leaders to talk. They use this space to settle fights between countries.

The history of the League began a long time ago. It was founded in Cairo on March 22, 1945. At the start, there were only seven members. These were Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and North Yemen. The official headquarters were located at the Boustan Palace. Later, the League grew much larger over the years. It has changed many times since those first days.

Today, the League has 22 member states.

These countries are spread across two continents, Africa and Asia. Some areas have large deserts like the Sahara. Other areas have green places like the Nile Valley. In the Council, every member state gets exactly one vote. Decisions made by the Council only apply to those who vote for them. This means not every rule affects every single country.

The League has seen many big changes in its history. For example, Egypt was once suspended from the group. It stayed away for a while but returned in 1989. Syria was also suspended for a time after a civil war. However, the League voted to bring Syria back in 2023. The League also works with other parts of the world. It is a member of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. This helps them work on big projects like railways.
