In the past, many people were treated poorly because of their race. Some leaders fought to change this. In the 1500s, a man named Antonio de Montesinos spoke out. He told Spanish leaders to stop being cruel to native people. Later, a man named Bartolomé de las Casas also questioned unfair rules.

Groups like the Quakers also worked for change. They helped start movements to end slavery. In England, people formed groups to stop the slave trade. Some people, like John Brown, were even willing to die for freedom. Other leaders, like Frederick Douglass, argued that all people are equal.

Scientists also helped prove that racism is wrong. Friedrich Tiedemann showed that brain sizes were not linked to race. Charles Darwin said that humans are very similar in many ways. Today, science shows there are no human races. Modern groups still work hard to make the world fair for everyone.
