Many famous people wrote in this journal. Albert Einstein is one of them. In 1905, he shared his most famous ideas here. These papers were about light and space. He also wrote about how mass and power are linked.

In the past, most writers used German. From 1950 to 1980, they used both German and English. After 1990, they used only English. This helped scientists from all over the world read it.

Early on, the journal did not use peer review. Peer review is when other experts check the work. For example, Einstein sent his work to Max Planck. Planck then published it. Now, experts check every paper. Stefan Hildebrandt is the head editor today. The journal is still a big part of science.
