geography Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Anglo-America is a special region in the Americas. Most people here speak English as their main language. This area is shaped by the history of the British Empire. British culture and language have a very big impact on this place. It includes the United States and most of Canada. It also includes several countries in the Caribbean. This region is different from Latin America. In Latin America, people mostly speak Spanish, Portuguese, or French.

Not every part of North America is in Anglo-America. For example, the province of Quebec is not included. The region called Inuit Nunangat is also left out. This is because most people there do not speak English. Some Caribbean islands are also not part of this group. Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, and Saba are not usually included. Even though many people there speak English, they belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

History has brought many different people to this region. Many people move here from all over the world. They might come from Latin America or even more distant places. Some come from Europe, Asia, or Africa. Others come from parts of Oceania. People often move to find better jobs or a better life. Some move to escape hard things like poverty, famine, or conflict.

Because of these moves, the people in Anglo-America are very diverse. You can find many different ethnic groups living together. For example, in the United States, many people identify as White, Black, or Hispanic. In Anguilla, 91% of the people are White. In the British Virgin Islands, 81% of the people are Black. In the Cayman Islands, 88% of the people are White. Each place has its own unique mix of people.

Anglo-America is a very large and busy place. It has many different economies and ways of life. For instance, the United States has a very large economy. The Cayman Islands also has a high level of wealth per person. The term "Anglo-American" is even used to describe certain types of laws. This shows how much English culture affects the way things work. It is a region that connects many different parts of the globe.
