Most of his books were written in the Hebrew language. He used his skills to translate older works into Hebrew. This helped spread important ideas about grammar. He wrote many books about the Torah, which is a holy text. He preferred to look for the plain, literal meaning of words. He did not like to use complicated or hidden meanings. He also wrote about Islamic science and how it worked. This helped bring new ideas to the people he met.

Ibn Ezra was also very interested in the stars. He wrote many books about astrology and how the planets move. He even wrote about how to use an astrolabe. An astrolabe is a tool used to look at the sky. He wrote about math and how numbers work too. He studied many different kinds of science from different lands. His work covered many topics like the calendar and the zodiac. He wanted to understand how the whole world functioned.

His ideas left a big mark on history. Some thinkers used his work to study how books were written. He noticed when certain parts of a book seemed different from others. For example, he looked at the Book of Isaiah. He suggested that different parts were written at different times. Today, his name is even found in space. There is a crater on the Moon named Abenezra. A famous poet named Robert Browning even wrote a poem about him.
