It is an evergreen tree. This means it stays green all year. These trees grow in the mountains. They live near the Black Sea. They grow in Turkey, Georgia, and Russia. These trees like wet places. They grow where there is much rain.

These trees can grow very tall. Some reach 61 meters. That is a huge height! Their leaves are like needles. The needles are dark green on top. They have blue-white bands on the bottom. These bands are made of stomata. Stomata are tiny parts that help the tree breathe.

The tree has cones. The cones are 10 to 20 cm long. They have many scales. When the cones are old, they fall apart. This lets the seeds out. Many people use this tree for Christmas trees. The needles are soft and not sharp. They do not fall off easily. People also use the soft wood for paper.
