He was a producer, which is a person who helps make shows happen. He holds a huge record for his work. He has 218 credits as a producer or executive producer. This means he helped lead more shows than almost anyone else in America. People loved his shows for many years. Some of his famous hits include Charlie's Angels and The Love Boat. He also made the show Dynasty and the long-running drama 7th Heaven.

Making a TV show is a big job with many steps. Spelling started by acting in small parts in movies and shows. He appeared in shows like I Love Lucy and Gunsmoke. Later, he began writing scripts, which are the stories for the actors. He sold his first script, titled "Twenty Dollar Bride," in 1956. Eventually, he moved into producing full series. He learned how to use many guest stars in one show. He did this with a show called Burke's Law. This helped change how many other shows were made later.

Spelling had an interesting life before he became famous. He was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1923. His parents were immigrants from Russia. His father was a tailor who changed his name from Sperling to Spelling. As a young boy, Aaron went through a very hard time at school. He suffered from bullying that made him lose the use of his legs for a year. Luckily, he made a full recovery. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He worked as an entertainer on a ship and a reporter.

His career grew through many different partnerships. In 1966, he started Thomas-Spelling Productions with the comedian Danny Thomas. Later, he worked with producer Leonard Goldberg. Together, they made Spelling-Goldberg Productions. He made many shows that families watched together. His daughter, Tori Spelling, even starred in his show Beverly Hills, 90210. Spelling lived in a massive house in Los Angeles called "The Manor." It had 123 rooms and was very large. In 2006, he passed away at the age of 83.

Many people remember Spelling for his great work and kindness. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978. He was also put into the Television Hall of Fame in 1996. Spelling used his money to help others, too. In 1983, he gave money to help a young person get a heart transplant. Even after he died, people honored him at the Emmy Awards. His show 7th Heaven was even given a special episode to remember him. He left a huge mark on the world of TV.
