An 8-bit chip can hold many values. One chip can store 256 different values. This depends on how the computer reads the numbers. Some chips use numbers from 0 to 255. Others use numbers from -128 to 127.

These chips changed how we use computers. Before them, computers were very large and expensive. 8-bit chips made computers smaller and cheaper. This helped people have personal computers at home.

Many famous machines used these chips. The MOS 6502 was a very popular chip. It was used in the Apple II. It was also in the Nintendo Entertainment System. The Intel 8080 was another important chip. It helped start the hobbyist computer era. Many 8-bit chips are still used today. They work in embedded systems. These are tiny computers inside other tools. They help modern machines run well.
