Learning to skate requires intense discipline and technical precision. Hanyu began his training at age four under coach Mami Yamada. Later, he worked with Minoru Sano to ensure his talent was not wasted. He also experienced very strict and exhausting practice sessions with coach Tsuzuki. These sessions focused heavily on basic training and the Axel jump. This focus helped Hanyu build a solid foundation of skills.
