You look for words hidden in a grid of letters. The grid is often a square or a rectangle. The goal is to find and mark all the words. Words can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Some puzzles have a theme. You might look for food, colors, or animals.

There are many ways to find the words. You can look for the first letter of a word. Then, look at the letters around it. It is also smart to look for rare letters like Q, J, X, or Z. These letters stand out easily. Some people look for double letters, too.

Some puzzles are extra hard. A snaking puzzle

lets words bend at 90-degree angles. In some versions, words can even bend at 45 degrees. You might even use the same letter more than once!

Teachers use these games in class. They help students learn new languages. Some people even hide secret messages in the grid. You can play these games on paper or on a phone.
