The West is a big idea. It is not just one place on a map. Instead, it is a group of many nations. These nations share similar ways of living.

Many people think of Western Europe and North America first. But the West also includes places like Australia and New Zealand. These lands are far away in the Eastern Hemisphere. They are part of the West because of history. European people moved there and brought their ways with them.

This idea started a long time ago. Ancient Greece and Rome are the birthplaces of this culture. Greece gave ideas about science and democracy. Rome helped with laws and art.

Later, the West grew even more. People sailed across the ocean. They reached the Americas. This spread Western culture to new parts of the world.
