Designers use many skills to do this job. Some designers work alone. Others work in teams.

One part is graphic design. This is making the art and colors. Another part is UI design. UI stands for user interface design. This means making the parts people click on. Designers also think about UX design. UX stands for user experience design. This helps make a site easy to use.

In the past, the web was very simple. It mostly had text. In 1993, the Mosaic browser changed things. It let people see images and sounds. Later, a tool called CSS was made. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It helps with the layout and look of a page.

Today, many people use phones to see the web. Designers now use a "mobile first" way. This means they design for small screens first. Then they make it work on big screens.
