Water can turn into vapor in a few ways. Heat can make liquid water evaporate. This happens when water gets warm. Ice can also turn straight into gas. This is called sublimation.

In Antarctica, this can make snow disappear even when it is very cold.

Water vapor is lighter than dry air. This means it rises up. As it rises, it can create clouds or fog. When the vapor cools down, it turns back into liquid. This is called condensation.

This process makes rain or snow. This gives water to plants and animals.

Water vapor also acts as a greenhouse gas. This means it helps trap heat in our air. This can make the Earth warmer. Scientists use tools like hygrometers to measure humidity. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. We can even find water vapor in space. It is on other planets and near comets.
