Venial sin

philosophy religion Maturity 7-9 religion Next article →

This article covers sensitive topics: religion. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

Some people follow the Catholic faith. They believe in two kinds of sin. One kind is called a venial sin. The word venial means it is forgivable.

These sins are not very serious. They do not break a friendship with God. But they can hurt that bond.

A person might know they are doing wrong. They might even choose to do it. But it stays a venial sin if it is not grave.

Doing these small sins can weaken a person. It can make it easier to do bigger sins later.

People can ask for help to do better. This help is called grace. It helps them overcome their mistakes.
