Many things can make a vase. Some are made of clay or glass. Others use metal or plastic. Some are even made of wood. People use special wood that does not rot.

Vases have many parts. Most have a base at the bottom. The main part is called the body. Some vases have a neck to add height. They may also have a lip at the top. Some even have handles.

People have made vases for a long time. In ancient Greece, artists painted scenes on them. These scenes often showed myths. Long ago, people used a coiling method. They made long strips of clay to build walls. Later, they used a potter's wheel. This tool was likely made in Mesopotamia. It helped people make pottery much faster. Vases are beautiful pieces of art. They show us how people lived long ago.
