These beliefs were very strong in parts of Europe. Some people thought vampires could move things in a house. They might even throw stones on a roof. To stay safe, people used many tools. Some used garlic to keep them away. Others used holy items like a cross. Some tales say a vampire must count tiny seeds. If they see a bag of rice, they stop to count every grain. This keeps them busy all night.

Today, we know these creatures are not real. They are part of a fun genre of books and films. Famous stories like Dracula helped make the modern vampire legend. We see these characters in many movies and video games today.
