A user interface is how we talk to machines.

Designers make these interfaces for computers and cars. They also make them for phones and home tools. The goal is to make things easy to use. This is called usability.

There are different kinds of interfaces. A graphical user interface, or GUI, uses pictures on a screen. You might see a desktop on a computer. Some machines use your voice. Smart assistants like Siri use voice control. Other machines use gestures. This means you move your body to work in a virtual world.

Designers use a special way to work. It is called design thinking. First, they empathize. This means they study what people need. Next, they define the problem. Then, they ideate. This is a way to think of many new ideas. They make a prototype, which is a simple model. Finally, they test the model with real people.

Good design should be clear. It should also be easy to read. Designers want you to finish your task without any trouble.
