In the east, you can find the Giant's Causeway. This was made by old volcanic activity. The province also has many large lake networks like Lough Erne.

History shows that Ulster has changed many times. Long ago, it was the home of the Ulaid people. It was once ruled by kings. The O'Neill dynasty became very powerful leaders later on. In the 1500s, they fought the Nine Years' War. After that, King James I started the Plantation of Ulster. This brought many settlers from Scotland and England. These new people helped found many of the towns we see today.

These historical changes shaped how people live now. The new settlers brought different religious beliefs to the land. Today, almost half of the people are Protestant. Many other people in Ulster are Roman Catholic.

Because of these differences, there was much political debate. In 1921, the land was divided into two parts. This event is known as the partition of Ireland. It created the borders that exist today.

People in Ulster use many different languages. Most people speak English as their main language. Some people speak a special dialect called Ulster English. You can also hear the Irish language spoken. There are special Irish-speaking regions in County Donegal. Some people also speak Ulster-Scots in many counties. This includes Antrim, Down, Londonderry, Tyrone, and Donegal. These different voices make the culture of Ulster very unique.
