Twice is a famous South Korean girl group that has changed the world of music.

They are known as one of the best-selling girl groups ever made. In their home country, people often call them "The Nation's Girl Group." This is because they helped bring girl groups back to the top of the Korean Wave. The group has nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. While they started with a cute and bubbly style, they have grown to show more elegant and mature sides.

Creating the group was a long and careful process. It began with a television competition show called Sixteen in 2015.

The founder of JYP Entertainment, J. Y. Park, helped decide the final lineup. He chose seven members through the show. Later, he added Tzuyu because she was the most popular contestant. He also added Momo because he wanted her great performance skills. Park chose the name Twice to mean they touch hearts twice. They do this through the ears and through the eyes.

The group made their official debut on October 20, 2015. They released an album called The Story Begins. At first, people did not notice them right away. However, their song "Like Ooh-Ahh" slowly grew in popularity through word of mouth.

By November, the song reached the top 10 on many Korean music charts. Their first music video also became a huge hit on YouTube. It reached 50 million views within only five months of their debut.

In 2016, Twice became a massive success with two big hits. Their song "Cheer Up" became the best-performing single of the year in South Korea. It even won "Song of the Year" at the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Their next song, "TT," was also a giant hit. It stayed at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart for four weeks in a row. Many people loved their special dance moves. These dances became famous "dance crazes" and viral memes that people shared online.

Twice has since shared their music with many different countries. They debuted in Japan in 2017 with the album #Twice. They were the first Korean girl group to earn platinum certification in Japan for an album and a single in one year.

They also sing in the United States and have topped the US Billboard 200 chart. In 2024, their album With You-th reached number one on that chart. Their fans are called "Once." This is because if fans love them once, the group will love them back twice.
