To get ready, the members lived together in a small dormitory. They spent many weeks practicing their singing and dancing. They even recorded a song called "Thanks To" for a showcase. Yunho was chosen to be the leader of the group. The group's name was eventually chosen as Dong Bang Shin Ki.

Making a music career involves a lot of hard work and travel. The members had to learn new languages to perform in Japan. They signed with a Japanese company called Avex Group in 2004. At first, their start in Japan was quite difficult. They performed at music festivals like the A-Nation summer tour. Later, they became one of the top-touring artists in the country. Their success grew as they released many popular Japanese albums.

TVXQ has reached many big milestones since they started. They sold over 10 million physical records in their first 10 years. Their album "Mirotic" won the Golden Disk Award for Album of the Year. In Japan, their album XV made them the first foreign act to have six number-one albums in a row. They also broke attendance records with their Begin Again Tour. Their music has reached many people through different charts.

Even when things changed, the group kept making music. Three members left the group in 2010 due to legal issues. After a one-year break, TVXQ returned as a duo. This new version includes only U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin. They released the album "Keep Your Head Down" in 2011. This album reached the top of the charts in many Asian markets. In April 2025, they held a special three-day show at the Tokyo Dome. This event celebrated their 20th year as artists.
