It is very tall and even has a glacier on it. The province is made up of 166 different municipalities. Its capital city is Trento, which is also where the province gets its name.

The land is shaped by high peaks and deep valleys. The Adige River flows through the middle of the province. This river creates a large valley that serves as a path. For a long time, this path has connected Italy to Central Europe. Many other valleys exist, like the Non Valley or the Sole Valley. The Non Valley is a famous place for growing apples.

In other areas, people grow grapes to make wine. Many people also visit the mountains for tourism.

History has shaped Trentino in many different ways. Long ago, the Raetian people lived in this area. Later, it became part of the Roman Empire. During the Middle Ages, the land was part of the Holy Roman Empire. It was governed by the Prince-Bishops of Trento for a long time. You can see the history at the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento.

The region also saw heavy fighting during World War I. After the war, the borders changed and it became part of Italy.

Today, Trentino has a lot of freedom to make its own rules. This is called autonomy. It has its own elected government and a provincial council. The council has 35 members who make decisions for the province. One member must be from the Ladin minority group. The province also manages its own schools and hospitals. In 2023, the province's economy was quite strong. It is a very important part of Italy's total economic output.

The people in Trentino have a very rich culture. Most people speak Italian every day. However, you will also hear other languages being spoken. Some communities speak Ladin, which is a very old tradition. There are also groups that speak Mòcheno or Cimbrian.
