It was a very important moment in film history. This was the first feature film made entirely with computer animation. The story happens in a world where toys come to life. They only move when humans are not looking. The movie shows how toys feel about being loved. They deeply want children to play with them. This big desire drives all their hopes and fears.

The story follows a cowboy doll named Woody. He is a pullstring toy and the leader of the group.

Woody becomes jealous when a new toy arrives. This new toy is a space cadet named Buzz Lightyear. Buzz is a modern action figure with many electronic features. At first, Woody and Buzz are rivals. They even get lost and must work together. Eventually, they become best friends. They must escape a neighbor named Sid to get back to their owner, Andy.

Making this film was a long and hard job. Pixar Animation Studios worked with Walt Disney Pictures to create it. At first, Disney wanted the story to be edgier. The creators had to rewrite the script many times. They wanted to focus on the bond between toys and children. Pixar was a small studio with few employees back then. They worked under tight financial limits to finish the movie. This hard work helped them create something truly new.

Many people helped bring these characters to life. Tom Hanks voiced Woody and Tim Allen voiced Buzz.

Other voices included Annie Potts and John Ratzenberger. The film premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. It came out in North American theaters on November 22, 1995. The movie was a huge success at the box office. It earned over $363 million around the whole world. It was the second highest-grossing film of that year.

Toy Story changed how people make movies forever. It won a Special Achievement Academy Award. It also received three other Oscar nominations. The film was even chosen for the National Film Registry. This means it is considered culturally and historically significant. The success started a huge franchise for Pixar. There are four sequels and a spin-off film called Lightyear. People still watch it many years later. It remains one of the best animated films ever made.
