The story takes place in a kingdom called the Pride Lands. Simba is the son of King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. A mean uncle named Scar wants to be the king. Scar causes a sad event that leads to Mufasa's death. Simba feels it is his fault and runs away. He meets a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumbaa. Creating this movie was a huge job for many people. Directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff led the team. Writers like Irene Mecchi and Jonathan Roberts worked on the script. The team even visited Kenya to see real animals for research. They wanted the Pride Lands to feel real and special. The film also features music by Elton John and Tim Rice. This music helped make the story feel very powerful.
