It lives in Asia and some Pacific Islands. These geckos are nocturnal. This means they are active at night. They live in rainforests on trees and cliffs. Sometimes they live near people on walls and ceilings.

This gecko has soft skin. It is blue-gray with red or orange spots. The skin can change color to help it hide. Males are larger and brighter than females. This is called sexual dimorphism. It means males and females look different.

Tokay geckos are strong climbers. They have foot pads to help them. These pads hold their whole weight on walls. They have large heads and strong jaws. They can give a very strong bite.

They eat insects like crickets and beetles. They also eat small animals. Males make a loud croak. The sound sounds like "to-kay." This is how they got their name. They can live for 15 to 20 years.
