Most fans knew her by her ring name, The Fabulous Moolah. She was a powerful athlete who became a leader for women in the sport. Moolah was a champion many different times throughout her long career. She even won a world title when she was 76 years old. This made her the oldest champion in wrestling history at that time.

Her journey in the ring followed a very specific path. She started her career working with a promoter named Billy Wolfe. Early on, she worked as a valet for the wrestler Buddy Rogers. A valet is someone who walks to the ring with a performer to help them. Later, she began competing as a wrestler herself. In 1956, she won a big match called a battle royal. In this match, many women competed at once to win a title. After she won, she was given her famous new name.
