People can get the oil in two ways. They can crush the seeds to squeeze it out. This is called expeller pressing. They can also use chemicals to pull the oil out.

This oil is a liquid at room temperature. It has a very neutral taste. This makes it great for cooking. You can use it to fry foods like potato chips. Some oils are refined to help them stay stable at high heat. Refined oil is clear and pale yellow.

Other oils are unrefined. These keep more of their natural color and flavor. They look light amber.

Sunflower oil is full of nutrients. It is a rich source of vitamin E. It is also made of fats called oleic acid and linoleic acid. People make different kinds of oil by changing these fats. Some oils have more of one fat than the other. This helps people use the oil in different ways. It can even be used in some cosmetics. It can also be used as fuel for diesel engines.
