Many strategy games are very old. The game of Go comes from China. Chess likely started in India long ago. People played games in ancient Greece and Egypt, too. Some games, like mancala, may be very old.

There are many different kinds of strategy games. Abstract games, like Chess, follow strict rules. They do not try to copy real life. Other games are simulations.
