Strategy

society Maturity 11-13 Next article →

A strategy is a big plan to reach a goal. It helps when things are not certain. Most people have limited tools or resources. A strategy shows how to use those tools to get what you want.

People have used strategy for a long time. Sun Tzu wrote about it in a book called The Art of War. Long ago, the word meant leading troops in a war. In the 1800s, people used it to talk about politics and force. Some thinkers say strategy is about using battles to win a war. Others say it is about using military power to meet political goals.

Today, businesses use strategy too. In the 1960s, it became a way to study how companies work. A business might use a strategy to compete with others. It can be a set plan made ahead of time. It can also be a pattern that grows as things change.

Some plans help keep people safe. Governments make plans to stop terrorism. These plans help protect citizens and their way of life. A good strategy helps shape the future.
